Life is full of opportunity. Ironically, you see it all around. It’s presented at work, at home, in church on the school yard or in the PTA meeting.
I discovered working with other adults on various projects over the years that we all won’t see things the same way. Most of the time the EGO is some form of swing and someone has to be able to play the game so that everyone wins.
How we respond to these ego is truly the opportunity. Do you reflect the same attitude and actions as the other to prove who has the biggest chest thump or do you relate, identify the problem and focus on the the real issue at hand with empathy, perspective and trust?
Reflecting this mature behavior also advances your message to be heard in a noisy world when everyone has the right answer or right to respond irrational.
I call it Good Behavior IP. This is what shows your authenticity when everyone is fussing.
My mother trained me with 3 actionable principles when I was a youth that I believe still works today here they are:
3 ways to stand out in humility
1- She said when we were about to get in fights with other children she would say with wisdom, “Son it’s better to say there he go then there he lay.” This meant that your life is more important then trying to prove who is the toughest.
2- Mom would also say, “Daniel, even if you are right in a dispute you can always, for the sake of everyone, say to the another person, I apologize if I offended you. This strategy when used would cause someone angry to recognize your humility and intention. It would often in the long run earn their respect versus a punch in the face.
